December news round-up: PSA new vans, hot Ford pick-up, electric MAN

PSA light van pair’s pricing revealed

The new Citroen Berlingo and Peugeot Partner will both cost from £15,825 when they head to customers in January.

The two vans offer a choice of four trim levels, two sizes and the same engines.

The Berlingo’s trims are X, Enterprise, Worker and Driver, while the Partner comes with a choice of S, Grip, Professional and Asphalt specification. Unsurprisingly, the trims largely match each other across the ranges

Each entry-level version comes with DAB radio, Bluetooth, an emergency connect system, automatic headlights, a nearside sliding door, a full bulkhead and hill start assist.

The Worker or Grip model adds a sensor, which warns if the loading bay has too much weight on board. They also come with raised suspension and grip control.

Enterprise or Professional add air conditioning, rear parking sensors and phone integration. The Driver or Asphalt models are designed for those that spend more time on the road in town, and include auto wipers, satellite navigation and the rear cameras that act as a rear-view mirror for panel van versions without rear windows and looks down the passenger blind spot.

Extra-hot Ranger Raptor revealed

The Ford Ranger Raptor, the most high-performance version of the pick-up yet – has been revealed. The Raptor is fitted with a 2.0-litre Biturbo diesel engine that produces 213hp and is connected to Ford’s latest 10-speed automatic gearbox.

LEVC to test REX van

The London EV Company (LEVC) will trial its new range-extender electric van in London next year, with the company in talks with the Metropolitan Police and London Fire Brigade. The van will use the same powertrain as the company’s taxi, which is capable of an official electric-only range of just over 80 miles.

MAN on a charge

MAN has become the latest manufacturer to offer a battery-powered model – the eTGE. The eTGE is essentially a rebadged VW e-Crafter with the same running gear and technical elements. It is currently due to arrive in 2021, in right-hand drive format, but MAN is pushing to bring this forward to 2020.

Nissan Navara N-Guard special edition

Nissan has added a special edition to its Navara pick-up range, called the N-Guard. It is based on the top-of-the-range Tekna trim, and adds black details on the front end, mirror covers, door handles, rear bumper, side steps and roof rails. It starts at £28,075, not including VAT.
